Dilatometry

The dilatometry measures, according to a set thermal cycle, dimensional variations of various types of materials: raw, fired, conglomerates, glass, enamels, metals etc …

This analysis is very useful for analyzing the firing process of “green” uncooked pieces, the expansion coefficient of fired supports, the expansion coefficient of glazes, the “glaze / biscuit” bond, the optimal sintering cycle of ceramics.

Through the dilatometer instrument it is possible to quantify the dimensional variations to which a certain sample is subjected when subjected to a heat treatment, allowing to calculate the coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CTE – Coefficient of Thermal Expansion).
